Joseph Pilates was German-born in 1880. During his childhood he suffered a number of debilitating diseases including asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. These conditions led to his quest for health. Then, he began rehabilitating wounded soldiers in the first World War. Joseph Pilates devised an exercise program he would later call "The Art of Contrology." In 1960 he opened up his own Pilates studio in New York.

The benefits of Pilates has gained popularity among professional athletes and those interested in maintaining strong, lean, long muscles with excellent flexibility, strength and coordination. We offer private, duo, trio and mat classes using Gratz and Balanced Body equipment. All instructors are classically trained under the protege of Joseph Pilates, Romana Krysanowska.

Pilates

“I must be right. Never an aspirin.

Never injured a day in my life. The whole country, the whole world, should be doing my exercises. They’d be happier.”

- Joseph Pilates, age 86!
